Exhibition opening at Taseralik, Sisimiut
After months of working on the project we had the pleasure of opening the exhibition of chapter one at Taseralik in Sisimiut yesterday. We are really happy with the results and would like to thank everyone who were there last night. Here’s a snippets from a surprising and very flattering opening speach by managing director at Taseralik Arnajaraq Støvlbæk:
“Not everyone in Greenland knows about the prestige of receiving a prize at the Danish press photography of the year, or for that matter that a photograph can be something very special that might change people’s conception of things. That is why I think it is exciting to hear the hournest reactions of ordinary people in Sisimiut to your project. Most people in Sisimiut don’t know you nor your previous work, but when we google you we find quite a few things that are far from our reality. The reality that is our “now”.
It is this “now”, the present time, that shines through your photographs. A “now” like that of the images from Jette Bang in the early 40ies and 50ies. It is like the world is frozen in a split second and we see an imprint of very normal everyday of the reality that we know of.”
A big thank you to Arnajaraq and the rest of Taseralik including Paarnaq, Nuka and HP for their support during installation. The exhibition will be on view at Taseralik until January 4, 2015.
